This is Maja, founder of Blaze Studio. Before settling in San Diego, she lived in Los Angeles, overseeing all consumer-facing designs for the luxury hotelier group, Proper Hospitality. Maja made an impact, thereby supervising every facet of design, from custom match-boxes to large-scale signage, sales presentations, websites, and entire e-marketing campaigns. While managing the schedule and priorities of a busy design office servicing a portfolio of 6 properties, she mentored designers and provided coaching to stakeholders and resources across the company.
Prior to her work in hospitality, she held a senior design position at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. There she worked with the myriad of departments, including exhibitions, curatorial, editorial, marketing, and education, to create unique and attention-grabbing graphics for print, web, and space.
In her former New York City life, Maja worked for Sony Music as well as Brand Integration Group at Ogilvy & Mather. Past clients included Good Charlotte, Motorola, BP, Sprite, Coca-Cola, Dove, TIAA-CREF, Jaguar, American Express, Maxwell House, and Kodak.
Maja holds an MFA from the California Institute of the Arts as well as a BFA from the School of Visual Arts. Her design interests encompass branding, typography, visual systems, art history, color, patterns, and signage. Her personal intersts revolve around photography, mysterious novels, travel, and really good cinema. In addition to her design work, she educates next generations of amazing designers at the University of San Diego and San Diego State University.
